Amit Shah is an Indian politician and the present Home Minister of India. Prior to this, he has been the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Home Minister of Gujarat State of India, and the General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Lok Sabha MPs have been elected from Gandhi Nagar in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Prior to this, he was a member of the Rajya Sabha. After being made the Home Minister of India in the second term of the Modi government, Amit Shah took a major decision to rid Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, which was considered impossible when Congress was in power. Amit Shah represents the rising New India in the true sense. Amit Shah was born on October 22, 1964, in an affluent Gujarati family to Mrs. Kusumben and Mr. Anilchandra Shah. He belongs to a wealthy family in Gujarat. His family was a Gujarati Hindu Vaishnav Bania family. His sister’s name is Aarti Shah, his wife’s name is Sonal Shah and his son’s name is Jai Shah.
Amit Shah did his early studies at Mehsana’s school. After Amit Shah completed his schooling, he went to Ahmedabad to study Bio-Chemistry at CU Shah Science College. Let us tell you that Amit Shah graduated with a BSc degree in Bio-Chemistry. After completing his studies, Amit Shah joined his father’s business. When Amit Shah was just 14 years old, he joined the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) as a young volunteer. It is said that he got all the knowledge of patriotism from the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh itself. According to a report, Amit Shah ji started working for the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad right from the time of college. Amit Shah joined the BJP in 1987. Shah’s first major political break came in 1991 when he took charge of campaigning for Advani in the Gandhinagar parliamentary constituency. The second chance came in 1996 when Atal Bihari Vajpayee decided to contest elections from Gujarat. In this election also, he took charge of the election campaign. Amit Shah began his political career in 1997 by winning the by-election from the Sarkhej assembly seat in Gujarat. In the year 1999, Amit Shah was elected the President of the Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank (ADCB). In 2014, he became the president of the Gujarat Cricket Association after Narendra Modi stepped down as president. From 2003 to 2010, he took charge of the Home Ministry in the cabinet of the Gujarat government.
He represented the Sarkhej Legislative Assembly constituency thrice before contesting his assembly elections in 2012 from Naranupara Legislative Assembly Constituency. He has been elected MLA from Sarkhej Assembly Constituency of Gujarat four times from 1997 (by-election), 1998, 2002, and 2007 respectively. Amit Shah is considered close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shah came into the limelight when Pranesh was killed along with 19-year-olds Ishrat Jahan, Zeeshan Johar, and Amjad Ali Rana in an alleged fake encounter on the outskirts of Ahmedabad in 2004. The Gujarat Police had claimed that these people had come to kill Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to avenge the 2002 post-Godhra riots. In this case, Gopinath Pillai had given an application in the court and appealed to make Amit Shah also an accused in the case.
There came a time when he had to face arrest on 25 July 2010 in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case. The biggest attack on the allegations against Shah was done by DG Banjara, a suspended officer of Gujarat Police, himself very close to him. On June 12, 2013, about 10 months before the 16th Lok Sabha elections, Shah was made in charge of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Uttar Pradesh, when the BJP had only 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state. His organizational skills and leadership abilities were felt when the results of the 16th Lok Sabha elections came on 16 May 2014. This was the biggest victory of BJP in the state so far. The stature of Amit Shah, who was the architect of this charismatic victory, increased so much within the party that he was given the post of President of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
