Tulsi Vivah is a very sacred and fruitful festival. On this day, the Tulsi plant is married to Shaligram (stone). This marriage is also celebrated like other marriages. • Take the names of all the gods and offer them incense sticks.

• Take a coconut and offer it as a tilak in front of Tulsi Mata.

• Take the idol of Lord Shaligram Ji in your hand and circumambulate the Tulsi Mata plant seven times. In this way, Tulsi Vivah and Tulsi Puja will be completed.

The Tulsi plant is considered holy by Hindus as it is believed to be an incarnation of Mahalakshmi who took birth as Vrinda. Tulsi was married to demon king Jalandhar. She prayed to Lord Vishnu to protect her demon husband, as a result of which none of the gods could harm him. However, at the request of other gods, Lord Vishnu took the form of Jalandhar and started living with the oblivious Tulsi. When the truth came out after Jalandhar’s death, Vrinda cursed Lord Vishnu and turned him into stone (Saligram), and fell down. The Tulsi plant emerged from her body. It is said that many centuries ago there was a demon named Jalandhar. He would always defeat the gods. He had spread cruelty everywhere.
