During the Mahabharata period, at the request of Pandu’s son Arjun, Lord Shri Krishna described the importance of Parivartini Ekadashi. Lord Shri Krishna said, O Arjun! Now listen carefully to the story of Parivartini Brahmanda, who destroys all sins. In Tretayuga, there was a demon named Bali, but he was very charitable, truthful, and served Brahmins. He always used to perform yagya, penance, etc.
Due to the influence of his devotion, King Bali started ruling heaven in place of Devraj Indra. Devraj went to Lord Indra and the most powerful Lord Vishnu, related to the Gana. The gods prayed to God for protection. After this, I assumed the name of Vaman and, in the form of a Brahmin child, conquered King Bali.
Lord Shri Krishna said – I took the form of Vamana and requested King Bali – O King! If you donate three steps of land to me, you will get the fruits of the donation from the three worlds. King Bali accepted my request and prepared to donate the land. It was with the resolve of charity that I assumed a huge form and took the earth from one point, heaven from the heel of the other plane, and Brahmalok from the end.
Now the third mark was that King Bali had nothing left. So he moved his head forward, and Lord Vamana placed the third foot on his head. Lord Vaman, pleased with the remake of King Bali’s words, made him the lord of the underworld. I had told King Bali that I would always be with him.
On the day of Parivartini Ekadashi, one of my images remains with King Bali, and the other one rests on Sheshnag in the Kshir Sagar. This Chaturthi has been changed to the name of Lord Vishnu.
