Story of Maa Katyayani

Maa Katyayani is born in the ashram of Maharishi Katyayani to remove the troubles of the gods and sages. Maharishi Katyayan ji had nurtured the goddess. When the atrocities of the demon named Mahishasura had increased a lot, then to destroy him, Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh created the goddess by giving a part of their glory and majesty and sage Katyayan performed difficult penance and worship of Bhagwati ji for this reason. Since then this goddess was called Katyayani.

Maharishi Katyayan ji wished that Bhagwati should be born as a daughter in his house. The goddess accepted his prayer and after being born on Ashwin Krishna Chaturdashi, sage Katyayan worshiped him for three days on Shukla Saptami, Ashtami, and Navami. On Dashami, the goddess killed Mahishasura and freed the gods from the atrocities of Mahishasura.

After this, Shumbha and Nishumbha also attacked heaven snatched away Indra’s throne, and took the nine planets hostage. He had completely snatched away the power of fire and air. Both of them had insulted the gods and thrown them out of heaven. After this, all the gods praised the Maa. After this, the goddess freed the gods from this crisis by killing Shumbha and Nishumbha. • Wake up in the morning take a bath and clean the temple.

• Anoint Goddess Durga with Ganga water.

• Offer Akshat, red sandalwood, Chuni, vermilion, and yellow and red flowers to the mother.
