There lived a rich man named Dhanpal in a beautiful city named Bhadravati. He was a philanthropist by nature. Among his five sons, the name of youngest son was Dhrishtabuddhi who used to spend his father’s money in bad deeds. One day Dhanpal, fed up with his bad habits, threw him out of the house. Now he started wandering here and there in grief day and night. One day, under the influence of some good deed, Maharishi reached Kaundilya’s ashram. Maharishi had come after taking a bath in Ganga.

Dhrishtabuddhi, suffering from the burden of grief, went to sage Kaundilya folded his hands, and said, “Sage! Have mercy on me and tell me some solution by which I can be freed from my sorrows due to the effect of virtue.’ Then Kaundilya said, fast on the famous Ekadashi known as ‘Mohini’. By this fast, the sins of many births are also destroyed. Dhrishtabuddhi observed the fast as per the method prescribed by the sage. Due to this he became sinless and assumed a divine body and went to Shri Vishnudham.
