When a Brahmin’s daughter became marriageable. So the Brahmin started searching for a groom for his daughter. So that the Brahmin’s daughter gets a suitable groom. However, the marriage could not take place due to poverty. One day a saint came to a Brahmin’s house. He was very happy to see the service attitude of the Brahmin’s daughter. The sages blessed Ravana’s daughter with a long life.

When the Brahmin asked, the sage said that the girl did not have a marriage line in her hand. The Brahmin asked the sages for a solution. The monk said that a family of a washerman named Sona lives in the neighboring village. If the girl serves the Dhoban’s family and asks the Dhoban for his vermilion, then the girl’s marriage may be possible. After listening to the sage and God, the girl resolved to serve the washerman. From the next day onwards, the Brahmin’s daughter used to wake up every morning and do all the household work of the washerman.

A washerwoman told her daughter-in-law that she is so good that she does all the household work. Then the daughter-in-law told the washerman that she kept sleeping. Both of them were surprised as to who does all the household work. The next morning both of them started waiting. Then both of them saw that a girl came and started doing all the washing work. Then the washerman asked the girl the reason for this and the girl Sona fell at the washerman’s feet. The girl narrated all her sorrow to the gold washerman. After listening to the girl, the washerman agreed to give her her vermilion. The next day was Margashirsha Amavasya.
