On the day of Diwali, fill a bronze or copper pot with water put some Ashoka leaves in it, and place a coconut on its mouth. Then make a sign of Swastika with Roli on the pot tie a mauli and keep it at the place of Lakshmi worship. Sugarcane is very dear to Mata Lakshmi, so bring a sugarcane on the morning of Diwali and offer it to the mother at the time of Lakshmi worship at night.
