Lord Buddha is considered to be the 9th incarnation among the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu and the 23rd incarnation among the 24 incarnations. The story of Buddha’s incarnation of Lord Vishnu has been mentioned in many important Hindu religious texts and Puranas. Prominent among them are – Vishnu Purana, Bhagwat Purana, Garuda Purana, Agni Purana, Harivansh Purana, Kalki Purana, Lalit Vistara, Shrimad Bhagwat etc. It is said in these religious texts that Lord Vishnu incarnated as Buddha to dissuade the demons from Vedic rituals and to establish Yugin Dharma.
Lord Gautam Buddha was born on the full moon day of Vaishakh month. Mahatma Buddha is considered to be the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the creator of the universe. Buddha’s birth is celebrated as Buddha Jayanti. The birth anniversary of Mahatma Buddha was celebrated late on Saturday evening at the Dharamshala of Shakya Samaj located in Gopalpura. People of the Shakya community from across the district came to Morena on Saturday to participate in this program. At the beginning of the program, a lamp was lit and a garland was laid in front of the statue of Mahatma Buddha.
In Buddha Avatar, Lord Vishnu incarnates himself as Buddha, an ascetic prince who abdicated the throne to lead the world on the path of peace. He is the founder of major Buddhist religions throughout the world. In some sects of Hinduism, he is considered a divine incarnation of Lord Narayana. He was born to Prince Suddhodana of Kapilvastu and Maya. He was named Siddhartha by the king, which means “all things are accomplished”. But his mother died shortly after his birth but Maya’s sister Prajapati raised Siddhartha.
Gautam Buddha was saddened by the death of living beings since his childhood and asked the question “Do all living beings kill each other?” He was not contented with any of the answers given to him and decided to find out the meaning and the absolute truth, he left his wife and child for the life of a hermit in the forest and one day, became enlightened. His teachings gave birth to Buddhism which is now popular all over the world.

Lord Vishnu was born as Siddhartha from Maya and Shuddhodhana.
