According to the Hindu calendar, it is considered auspicious to perform this ritual at an auspicious time from the month of Magh to the next six months. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are considered auspicious for Janeu Sanskar. Janeu Sanskar should not be performed on Tuesdays and Saturdays, it is considered inauspicious. If we talk about dates, Pratham, Chaturthi, Ashtami, Navami, Trayodashi, Chaturthi, Purnima, or Amavasya dates are considered auspicious for Janeu Sanskar. On the other hand, talking Nakshatras, then Punarvasu, Shravana, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Revati, Pushya, Dhanishtha, Ashwini, and Mrigashira Nakshatras are auspicious for Upanayana Sanskar.
