Upnayan Sanskar Muhurat 2024

October 9, 2023

Janeu Sanskar is one of the 16 prescribed rituals in Sanatan Dharma. It is considered the tenth sacrament in Hinduism. In the ceremony, boys are made to wear a sacred thread called Janeu. It is worn by Brahmins, Kshatriyas, and boys of other castes. The word Upanayana is made up of two words – ‘Upa’ meaning near and ‘Nayana’ meaning vision. The literal meaning of Upanayana is to take a person away from darkness towards light. It is considered one of the most popular and sacred rituals in the religion.

People who believe in Upanayana Hinduism consider Upanayana Sanskar very important. It is believed that by performing this ritual, there is material and spiritual progress for the child. Seeing the correct Upnayan Muhurat, the child is given initiation of Gayatri Mantra and after that, he is made to wear Yagyopaveet. This ritual is performed in the eighth year of a Brahmin child, in the eleventh year of a Kshatriya child, and in the twelfth year of a Vaishya child.

Upanayana means talking near or close to someone. Probably earlier it meant taking the child to the Guru or the Acharya or to make him aware of spirituality. However, at present, the meaning of Upanayana Sanskar is that now the child has become sensible, and now worldly and spiritual knowledge can be given to him. Therefore, it can be said that even at present the relevance of this ritual remains.

Janeu Sanskar Muhurat Calculated

Some important things have been told in the scriptures for the calculation of Upanayana Muhurat. According to the Hindu calendar, it is considered auspicious to perform this ritual at an auspicious time from the month of Magh to the next six months. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are considered auspicious for Janeu Sanskar. Janeu Sanskar should not be performed on Tuesdays and Saturdays, it is considered inauspicious. If we talk about dates, Pratham, Chaturthi, Ashtami, Navami, Trayodashi, Chaturthi, Purnima, or Amavasya dates are considered auspicious for Janeu Sanskar. On the other hand, talking Nakshatras, then Punarvasu, Shravana, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Revati, Pushya, Dhanishtha, Ashwini, and Mrigashira Nakshatras are auspicious for Upanayana Sanskar.

Janeu Wearing Benefits

Upnayan Sanskar is very important for the all-round development of the child. The message is also given to the child through Upnayan Sanskar that he has the responsibility to improve society. After wearing the sacred thread, the child understands his religion and takes an oath to behave accordingly. Let us now tell you what are the benefits of wearing Yagyopaveet.

Yagyopaveet is seen as the symbol of Mother Gayatri. Just as auspicious results are achieved by chanting the mantra of Mata Gayatri and installing her idol in the house, in the same way by wearing Yajnopaveet, a man’s mind becomes calm and he gets auspicious results in life.

According to Indian religious scriptures, the relation of Janeu has been considered with the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. As we know that Lord Shiva is considered the destroyer, Brahma the creator of the universe, and Vishnu the nurturer. Similarly, the three sources of Janeu are seen as the symbols of these three gods.

During Janeu Sanskar, five knots are tied on Janeu and these five knots are considered to be the symbol of Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha, and Brahma.

According to the scriptures, the right ear of a man is considered very sacred and it is said that Rudra, Vasu, Agni, Veda, Vasu, Surya, Som, etc reside in it. That’s why just touching the right ear with the right arm gives auspicious results.

It is believed that the child’s intelligence, strength, and age are developed by Janeu Sanskar.

If seen from a scientific point of view, through Janeu Sanskar, a subtle vein goes from the back of the body to the back, this vein goes from the right shoulder to the waist. Scientists believe that this vein gets strengthened by getting the sacred thread performed. Along with this, blood circulation in the human body is controlled by Janeu Sanskar. It is also very effective in heart diseases.

If seen from an astrological point of view, by performing the sacred thread ceremony of the child, he is saved from the inauspicious effects of Navagrahas.

Wrapping Up

There is a popular belief in Hinduism that the three threads represent the three ideals. The first thread of the Janeu symbolizes a commitment to the spiritual path, the second represents the parents and their method of parenting, and the third represents spiritual teachers. One should never forget the ideals that the three threads represent. In Hinduism, Janeu is not an ordinary thread but a sacred and spiritual thread. It is believed that with Janeu Sanskar, a child moves from childhood to youth. With the help of Astrology phone consultation, you can know about the auspicious date of Upnayan Sanskar in 2024. Qualified pundits tie the sacred thread Janeu above the boy’s left shoulder and below his right arm for the boy’s progress in life. It is made of three threads which represent Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. Also, these threads represent the god Rin, the father Rin, and the sage Rin. Also, people believe that the threads represent Sattva, Raha, and Tama. Apart from this, it is also considered a symbol of the three steps of the Gayatri Mantra.
