It is said that Maa Siddhidatri was the ninth form of Goddess Bhagwati. It is said that Mother Siddhidatri appeared and gave birth to Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. Lord Shiva Shankar had attained eight siddhis only by the grace of Mother Siddhidatri.

It was due to Mother Siddhidatri that half of Lord Shiva’s body became that of a goddess due to which Shiva got the name Ardhanarishwar. Apart from this, according to another legend, when all the gods and goddesses were troubled by the atrocities of Mahishasura, the Trinity gave birth to Siddhidatri. Who fought with Mahishasura and killed him and freed the three worlds from his terror.
