According to the legend, a king named Tungadhwaj ruled a city. Once the king got tired while hunting in the forest and sat under a banyan tree. There he saw that some people were worshiping God. The king was so engrossed in his greed that he neither listened to the story of Lord Satyanarayan nor paid obeisance to the Lord. The villagers came to him and respectfully gave him Prasad. But the king was so arrogant that he left without eating the prasad.
When the king reached his city, he saw that the king of another kingdom had attacked his kingdom and destroyed everything. After which he understood that all this was the reason for the anger of Lord Satyanarayan. He returned to the same place and asked for God’s offerings from the villagers. He was feeling very remorseful so he apologized for his mistake and accepted the prasad. Lord Satyanarayan forgave the king and returned everything as before. The king enjoyed royal pleasures for a long time and after his death he attained heaven.
According to the scriptures, a person who observes the fast of Lord Satyanarayan methodically and listens to the story gets all the happiness in the world, and all his wishes are fulfilled. He is always blessed by Goddess Lakshmi. That person never remains poor nor does he suffer from any kind of problem. A person who listens to the story of Lord Satyanarayan also attains Vaikuntha Dham after death. Therefore, every person must listen to the story of God so that he always receives the blessings of Lord Satyanarayan.
However, on the full moon day of Shravan month, the rituals of worship differ in different regions as per different rituals.
On the full moon day of Shravan, offer water to the Peepal tree and light a lamp there. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu reside in the Peepal tree. Worshiping the Peepal tree on this day removes financial problems.
To get rid of money problems, bring Dakshinavarti conch shell on Shravani Purnima. Write any proven mantra of Goddess Lakshmi on it with red sandalwood and install it in the temple of the house. It is believed that by doing this Goddess Lakshmi is pleased and happiness and prosperity come to the house.
According to astrology, it is considered very auspicious to install Shri Yantra, Kuber Yantra, Ekakshi coconut, and Dakshinavarti conch in the home temple on the day of Saavan Purnima. By doing this one never has to face a financial crisis.
On the full moon day of Sawan, mix Ganga water and Akshat in milk and offer Arghya to Chandradev. It is believed that doing this removes poverty and brings wealth into the house. For the special blessings of Chandra dev, you can chant the mantra ‘Om Son Somay Namah’.
To reduce negativity in the house, you can donate yellow clothes and grains on the day of Sawan Purnima. It is believed that by doing this the negative energy of the house goes away and the blessings of Lord Vishnu remain intact. Also, the happiness and good fortune of the family members increase.
