The churning of the oceans started due to the greed of getting nectar. When the nectar comes out, Indra’s son Jayant flies into the sky carrying the nectar pot. After which the demons chased Jayant and all the demons obtained the nectar. After this, there is a fierce war for twelve days between the gods and the demons to get the nectar. During this struggle, a few drops of nectar fall from the urn in Prayag, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik. At that time the Moon, Sun, Jupiter, and Saturn protected the Kalash.
