Mundan is one of the traditional ceremonies practiced in Hindu culture and many symbols and hidden meanings are associated with it. The shaving ceremony is often seen as a highly important aspect of a child’s developing years. Thus it is done with utmost care and consideration.
The child gets his first haircut during the Mundan ritual, leaving a few strands on the top of the head known as Shikha or Bodi. This is to protect the area of the brain that aids in remembering.
Shikha is also believed to be the place where, according to tradition, the soul leaves the body when a person dies. Usually, this is done in the first or third year after birth. Then, based on the child’s astrology consults Mundan Shubh Muhurat 2024 or Mundan Sanskar 2024 Shubh Muhurat.
Hinduism observes and practices sixteen samskaras, all of which have been accepted by sages and date back to the good old Vedic age. These samskaras start from birth and continue till the person dies. No matter how contemporary one is, most people never neglect such festivals as their belief in such customs always compels them to see the positive side. The effort to find out the Mundan ritual and Mundan Muhurta is also the smallest thing that parents can do for their dear children.
A person is born after passing through many yonis (paths). The hair that grows on a child’s head after birth represents the evil of that child’s past existence. Mundan Sanskar will be helpful in the development of positive human values as well as in removing negativity.
A child should be brought up with excellent morals if they are just born into a human cunt. The event should be clearly planned in a religious environment so as to introduce the youth to the spiritual environment. There are specific guidelines to be observed while reciting this ritual.

Mastak Lepan
Ghee, milk, and water are poured on the head of the child. The cow is considered a highly compassionate gentle animal in Hinduism and is given the status of a parent (mother). To help the child develop qualities related to the sweet cow, the extraordinary mixture is first applied to the child’s hair. Products such as milk, curd, and ghee are believed to be highly nourishing, and when the baby’s hair is bathed with all these substances, family and friends request the baby to be endowed with the qualities of a cow.
During the Mundan Sanskar, the child should first be kept on the lap of the parents and a paste of milk, curd, and ghee should be applied to his head. Then, parents should chant the accompanying mantra and wish their children a bright future and intellectual growth.
Trishika Bandhan
The human mind is truly considered a miracle. It is divided into the Building Center, the Foster Center, and the Governing Center. Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva have been credited with creating these 3 centers. This is done to protect the young brain from darkness, to prevent evil forces from settling in the child’s head.
Churra Pujan
Mundan Sanskar special knife or razor used exclusively for religious purposes should be used. Instead, use a professional razor with the proper level of sharpness. The tool must first have a coating of clay before it can be thoroughly cleaned with hot water. After this, the utensil should be kept on the worship plate. Then, while meditating, tie a ribbon to the blade and offer flowers, nuts, pudding, or rice to it along with the scented burner.
Nava Vastra Pujan
The acceptance of a new beginning of the child after the Mundan ceremony is known as Nava Vastra Pujan. By shedding its old skin, the snake leaves behind its previous life. The child’s hair is also neat for the same reason, indicating how the child is stepping into a new life and leaving the old one behind. While reciting the child’s new clothes are placed on a tray and Akshat and flower petals are presented. Let us know when the 2024 Mundan Muhurta is.
According to Panchang, the elder child should not be shaved in the month of Chaitra, Vaishakha, and Jyeshtha. Also, avoid shaving the baby born in these months. Mundan can be done before the Ekadashi of the month of Ashadh, as well as perform the Mundan rituals of children in the month of Magh and Falgun. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are considered auspicious for shaving, but girls should not be shaved on Friday. Ashwini, Mrigashira, Pushya, Hasta, Punarvasu, Chitra, Swati, Jyeshtha, Shravana, Dhanishtha, and Shatbhisha Nakshatras are considered favorable for Mundan Sanskar.
